Packages of Courses

We now offer delegate places in packages of 5 or 10 with a 10% discount (£1327+vat and £2655+vat respectively).  You can use the places for any number of staff and on any course.

Can’t See the Course You’re Looking For?

If you cannot see the course or date you are looking for, we may agree to create a course for you providing that you can start the course off with three places or more (possibly in partnership with another local authority).  Such courses will normally be held in central London, central Newcastle, Opportunity Links Cambridge or Leeds (but we are flexible and Cornwall is rather nice this time of year…).

Alternatively we are happy to create a bespoke agenda and run the training at a site of your choice.  The cost is £1500 + vat per day for a maximum of ten delegates (seven on queries and reports courses).

Outlines for courses are given below the dates; agendas on request.  To discuss any of the above, please call Simon on 01223 566522 or email simon.farley@opp-links.org.uk.

evince Queries and Reports (Level Two)

Central London

All courses will run from 9:30 until 4pm.

  • evince Queries and Reports Level One: Editing existing reports (editing text, adding pictures, adding new fields), creating simple queries from scratch and working with query data in Excel.
  • evince Training for New FIS Staff:  A chance to work through the most common evince scenarios encountered within an FIS without the pressure of a caller at the end of the phone line!  We will cover Childcare Enquiries, Provider Searches, Service and Organisation Searches, Maps, Running Reports and PKHD.
  • evince Queries and Reports Level Two: Function queries, date functions, case statements, parameters and advanced report design.  Delegates will usually need to have completed Level One.
  • Queries and Reports Workshop (Level Three): Working with large and complex queries and reports including sub queries, more useful functions in SQL and C# scripting in reports.  The afternoon will be taken up entirely by a workshop for you to work on existing reports with expert guidance :0)  Delegates will usually need to have completed Level Two.
  • evince for Sufficiency:  Techniques for best recording data to support sufficiency.  You will be provided with (and taught how to use) useful queries and reports to aid sufficiency, for example reporting on anecdotal evidence for insufficient places and brokerage, statistics for costs, opening hours and practices, registered places and vacancies.  This is purely a technical evince course and will not provide direct guidance on how to write your sufficiency report.  Prior knowledge of evince is required.  Query or report writing experience is useful but not essential.
  • evince Training Module Training: The entire training life cycle on evince - ways of improving and speeding up your processes.  Training reports, confirmation letters, registers, statistical reports - can yours be improved or expanded upon?  This course is intended for users with some experience of training functionality within evince.
  • evince Pathways to Registration: What is evince?  How to search for and understand evince childcare records.  The pathways process on evince - how to set local milestones for registration and monitor an application from beginning to end.  Suitable for those with little or no experience of evince.
